POWERQUIZ ACADEMIC TRIVIA CHAMPIONSHIP POLICY
For PowerQuiz Academic Trivia Championships

Governing Law: This Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States.
POWERQUIZ / TWINTIGER LLC. (“we,” “us,” or “POWERQUIZ”) organizes the PowerQuiz Academic Trivia Championship, an individual academic competition designed to inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for learning among students. This Championship Policy outlines eligibility, structure, rules, conduct, awards, and procedures. It works together with our Media and Photography Policy and Privacy Policy, which are incorporated by reference.
By registering or participating in any PowerQuiz Academic Trivia Championship event, students, parents/guardians, schools, and partner organizations agree to abide by this Policy in full. Violations may result in disqualification or other appropriate actions.
1. Eligibility
- Participants: The competition is open to currently enrolled students in recognized schools, educational institutions, student clubs, after-school programs, or homeschool equivalents approved by a partnering organization.
- Grade Divisions: Students compete in one of three divisions based on U.S. grade levels:
- Elementary Division: Grades 3–5
- Junior High / Middle School Division: Grades 6–8
- High School Division: Grades 9–12
- Students compete only within their assigned division.
- Individual Competition: This is strictly an individual competition. Each student participates and is scored on their own merit. There are no teams.
- Registration: Participation is typically coordinated through schools, PTAs, student clubs, or approved educational partners. Individual registrations may be accepted in some cases via the official event portal. All participants require consent from a parent or legal guardian.
2. Championship Structure.
The PowerQuiz Academic Trivia Championship follows a three-phase format:
- Screening Phase (Written Test)
- Conducted online (preferred) or on paper.
- Duration: 30 minutes.
- Format: Multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with varying difficulty levels (typically 50–100 questions depending on division).
- Higher-difficulty questions carry greater scoring weight.
- Purpose: Qualifying round to identify top performers.
- All eligible students may participate in this phase.
- On-Stage Qualifier Phase
- Top 20 students (based on screening performance and relative grading) advance to the live on-stage rounds.
- Format: Fast-paced buzzer rounds with 4 students competing at a time.
- Each qualifier round consists of 8–12 multiple-choice or rapid-response questions.
- Emphasizes accuracy, speed, and presence of mind.
- Ties resolved via a tie-breaker round.
- Final Phase
- Top 4 students from the qualifier phase advance to the Championship Finals.
- Format: 5–6 dynamic rounds with varying styles designed to test knowledge, speed, quick thinking, and ability to connect ideas across subjects.
- Ties resolved via a tie-breaker round.
- One overall Champion is crowned per division.
Parents, teachers, and guests are welcome to attend the on-stage rounds.
3. Content Areas
Questions draw from 14 core areas (no fixed syllabus):
- Science
- Technology
- Engineering
- Mathematics
- History
- Geography
- Sports
- Literature
- Economics
- Law
- Arts and Culture
- Civics and Government
- Logic
- General Knowledge
Questions encourage broad knowledge, critical thinking, and application beyond textbooks. They may include current affairs and interdisciplinary connections.
4. Gameplay and Scoring Rules
- Written Screening: Scored based on accuracy and difficulty weighting.
- On-Stage Qualifier: Buzzer-based. First correct response wins the point/value for that question. Specific scoring and timing will be announced at the event.
- Finals: Dynamic rounds with formats announced by the Quiz Master. Scoring varies by round to test different skills.
- Answering: Clear, direct answers required. Quiz Master may allow limited prompting or clarification as per standard quiz protocols.
- Protests: Must be raised immediately after the relevant question or round to the Championship Director/Quiz Master.
- Timing and Conduct: Strict adherence to time limits for responses. Use of unauthorized materials or devices is prohibited.
5. Conduct and Sportsmanship
- Participants must demonstrate respect, honesty, and good sportsmanship toward the Quiz Master, staff, other students, and audience members.
- Prohibited: Cheating, use of electronic devices during competition, disruptive behavior, or unsportsmanlike conduct.
- Quiz Master and the Championship Director have the authority to issue warnings, deduct points, or disqualify participants for violations.
6. Audience Conduct
To ensure a fair, respectful, and focused competition environment:
- The audience (parents, teachers, guests, and non-competing students) must remain silent during all active rounds of the on-stage qualifier and finals.
- Audience members must follow all instructions given by the Quiz Master (Moderator).
- Prohibited actions: Shouting out answers, cheering during active questioning, making disruptive noise, using mobile phones audibly, or any behavior that could distract competitors or interfere with the competition.
- Quiet applause and cheering are permitted only after a round or match has officially ended or during designated breaks.
- Violations of audience conduct may result in a warning or, in serious cases, removal from the venue by event staff. Repeated disruptions may lead to the affected participant being penalized if the disruption provides an unfair advantage.
7. Media, Photography, and Privacy
The capture and use of photographs, videos, and other media is governed by the POWERQUIZ / TWINTIGER LLC Media and Photography Policy. Personal information is handled according to the Privacy Policy. By participating, you grant POWERQUIZ / TWINTIGER LLC. rights to use media for promotion, social media, TV, and other productions, subject to opt-out procedures.
8. Safety, Liability, and Force Majeure
Participants assume risks associated with event attendance. POWERQUIZ/ TWINTIGER LLC. is not liable for injuries or damages except as required by law. In cases of inclement weather, venue issues, or force majeure, we may modify, postpone, or cancel the event.
9.Dispute Resolution
The Championship Director’s decisions on rules, scoring, eligibility, and protests are final.
10.Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy as needed. The current version will be posted on our website. Continued participation constitutes acceptance of revisions.
